Kara is a Director within the Operational and Technical Accounting Advisory Practice. She has over a decade of experience in public accounting, general ledger accounting, and assurance services. Kara’s background includes business process improvement, team optimization, non-profit accounting, probate and trust management and ERP system implementation and optimization.

Kara’s recent engagements consist of topics such as audit readiness, overseeing and assisting with best practice ERP implementation, cash-to-accrual conversion, opening balance sheet testing and preparation, interim CFO support, internal controls and accounting policies improvement, as well as current and future state business process assessments.

Kara has a track record of identifying unique ways to increase efficiencies as well as finding risks associated with current procedures. She works well with established teams but is proficient in creating new teams and creating a healthy work environment. Kara has experience with improving month end closing processes and system implementation with NetSuite, Salesforce, Concur and has led multiple FloQast implementations to help teams streamline and organize their close processes effectively.

Before her time at Accordion, she practiced in public accounting and was the Director of Accounting at American Cancer Society, where she coordinated and managed the external audit process as well as lead the team through implementing process improvements, building critical reconciliations, and enhancing the month-end close. Her ability to quickly assess and address organizational needs, coupled with her expertise in leading teams through transitions, makes her an ideal fit for interim leadership roles.

Kara graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Accounting and continued to get her Masters in Accounting at the same institution. She quickly became a Certified Public Accountant and continues to build on her education every year with new work challenges.
