José is a Vice President with eight years of experience in financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, interim management, and stakeholder negotiations for private and public sector clients across the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to joining Accordion, José was a Director in EY-Parthenon’s Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy practice, where he led multidisciplinary teams through complex in- and out-of-court engagements. His work focused on liquidity management, operational stabilization, interim leadership, and preparation for court-supervised transactions. He developed and owned time-sensitive financial models, managed teams, and delivered board- and court-level materials under significant scrutiny. José operated in high-stakes, multi-stakeholder environments involving lenders, sponsors, debtors, and government entities. His industry experience spans healthcare, energy, retail, transportation, and public-sector mandates.
Representative experience includes:
- Led certification of Puerto Rico’s $31B FY24 budget across 100+ agencies; directed budget reviews, evaluated funding requests, and implemented cost-saving measures aligned with long-term fiscal policy;
- Built a financial model in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene to project reconstruction costs and federal reimbursements; adopted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a primary tool to update annual spend targets and guide funding decisions;
- Supported Chapter 11 preparation and execution for a $100M+ biotech firm, including development of first-day motions, schedules and statements, operating reports, and post-petition cash management;
- Served as interim operator of a 1,600-well oil and gas company in Western Canada under court-appointed receivership; stabilized operations, preserved asset value, and facilitated a credit bid sale to the secured lender;
- Served as court-appointed receiver for a regional transportation company; led collections and monetized receivables and leased assets, delivering a 70% recovery to secured creditors; and
- Developed and managed a 13-week cash flow model for a cross-border oilfield services firm, sustaining operations and aligning stakeholder coordination across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions.
José holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance with Distinction from the University of Kansas and is currently pursuing the Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) designation.
