Cheryl Shelhamer

Cheryl is a Senior Director with over two decades of advisory, accounting, and financial reporting experience with clients ranging from small startups to large multinational companies. Cheryl specializes in public company readiness and the implementation of new accounting standards – advising clients in the preparation and support of U.S. GAAP and SEC compliant financial statements.

With Accordion, Cheryl has partnered with the management of private equity-backed companies to provide senior advisory and consultant services. She builds trusted relationships at the highest level and ensures the successful execution of Accordion’s services, including collaboration with engagement teams, developing recommendations that address client challenges, and driving the  completion of assigned deliverables within scope and timeline requirements.

Before joining Accordion, Cheryl spent six years with RGP, where she led the Technical Accounting practice, including Centers of Excellence for Revenue Recognition and Lease Accounting solutions. She has advised clients on complex transactions, technical accounting issues, assisted with audit defense, and SEC comment responses.

Cheryl is a subject matter expert in a variety of topics under U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and GASB. She is an experienced team leader for a multitude of projects including IPOs, GAAP conversions, financial reporting including SEC compliance, finance and accounting system implementations, and process improvement. In addition to this, she has designed cross-functional solutions, methodologies, and tools. She has developed and delivered training to clients and consultants on technical accounting issues, and is a frequent speaker on U.S. GAAP topics.

Cheryl has experience in several industries, including biotechnology, construction, consumer products, energy, healthcare, not-for-profit, professional services, software, technology, and telecommunications. She has also served as a member on several boards of directors for not-for-profit organizations.

She started her career in the audit practice of PwC, where she was responsible for leading large audits for a variety of domestic and international public and private companies spanning many industries, mentoring and coaching staff, and assisting with recruiting.

Cheryl graduated with honors from Montana State University with a B.S. in Business, Accounting Option and is a Certified Public Accountant.
