NEW YORK — October 28, 2024 — Accordion, a financial consulting firm focused on private equity, added two Senior Managing Directors (SMDs) and five Managing Directors (MDs) in Q3, 2024. The firm’s expanded group of senior leaders underscores the demand in the market for Accordion to serve as the go-to partner for PE-backed CFOs.
Among Accordion’s new leaders are healthcare experts from turnaround and restructuring advisory firm ToneyKorf Partners, including SMDs Mark Toney and Jim Porter, and MDs Sourav Chaudhuri, Jamy Houck, and Chris Karambelas. Additional new MD hires include Albert Leung (Transformation) and Kevin Muskat (Business Development).
Mark Toney is a Senior Managing Director in our national Turnaround and Restructuring Practice with four decades of experience in interim and crisis management, operational and financial revitalizations, and corporate turnarounds. Before Accordion, Mark co-founded ToneyKorf Partners, where he helped healthcare organizations address strategic, operational, and financial challenges. Prior to ToneyKorf Partners, Mark was the National Managing Partner of Grant Thornton’s Corporate Advisory & Restructuring Services Practice, while also leading the investment banking services practices at the firm. Before that, he was a Managing Director at AlixPartners and a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. At Accordion, he’ll leverage his discipline, persistence, and execution skills to achieve practical solutions for healthcare companies in crisis.
Jim Porter, based in Charlotte, is a Senior Managing Director with 30 years of experience helping organizations solve problems involving complicated business processes, workforce, and regulatory matters across a variety of industries and in both the U.S. and the U.K. Before Accordion, Jim was a Senior Manager at ToneyKorf Partners, where he served in management roles such as CFO and Treasurer and was involved in numerous M&A situations working with distressed hospitals. Prior to ToneyKorf Partners, Jim was a Principal in Grant Thornton’s Restructuring Practice. At Accordion, he’ll continue to help healthcare companies overcome distressed situations and get on the path from value creation to value stabilization.
Sourav Chaudhuri, based in New York, is a Managing Director who specializes in financial/strategic planning and the implementation of corporate turnarounds, with two decades of experience partnering with clients and investors to navigate distressed situations, execute M&A transactions, and facilitate capital raises. Before Accordion, as part of ToneyKorf Partners, he served in numerous interim management and advisory roles for several high-profile healthcare institutions. Prior to this, Sourav worked in Grant Thornton’s Corporate and Restructuring Practice, and began his career at Citi in investment banking.
Jamy Houck, based in Charlotte, is a Managing Director with two decades of experience working with distressed companies both inside and outside of formal bankruptcy, including providing interim management in operations as well as financial advisory services to debtors, lenders, and other company stakeholders. Before Accordion, Jamy was a Managing Director at ToneyKorf Partners, where she served as Chief of Staff to the CEO and CRO for several healthcare clients. At the same time, Jamy acted as ToneyKorf’s COO, leading the firm’s operations—including marketing, people experience, risk management, finance, accounting and reporting, and more.
Chris Karambelas, based in New York, is a Managing Director with nearly two decades of experience helping clients navigate complex and volatile situations. His primary focus has been on IT, healthcare technology, and financial and operational turnarounds across the healthcare sector. Before Accordion, as part of ToneyKorf Partners, Chris held critical leadership roles in managing crisis situations, acting as CIO and COO at Mercy Iowa City, an executive leader at Milford Health and Medical, and holding several leadership roles at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center.
Albert Leung, based in San Francisco, is a Managing Director with over 25 years of experience in performance improvement, large-scale transformations, merger integrations, and carve-outs in the enterprise software, ad tech, and consumer products sectors. Throughout his career, he has served as a hands-on operational and financial advisor to numerous private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies (namely during his time at AlixPartners and FTI Consulting). At Accordion, he’ll continue to work with clients to implement revenue growth strategies and cost/process optimization programs to drive financial performance improvement.
Kevin Muskat, based in Dallas, is a Managing Director with nearly three decades of financial and accounting experience in both industry and professional services roles, working with both public and private companies ranging from pre-revenue startups to multi-billion dollar businesses. Throughout his largely M&A-focused career (which includes time spent at EY), Kevin has worked on 600+ transactions—giving him unique access to both buyers and sellers at a pivotal point in their business lifecycle. This client-forward experience ensures he’s well-equipped to help deepen and broaden Accordion’s relationships within the Texas market and throughout the Central Region.
