Sophia Lu

Sophia is an Associate with experience in management consulting and investment banking within the financial services sector. Having worked in Asia, North America, and Europe, she has immersed herself in different cultures and geographies.

Prior to joining Accordion, Sophia was a Senior Investment Banking Associate in Goldman Sachs’ London office, where she advised clients on potential M&A opportunities and capital raising activities. She primarily covered UK Banks, especially Challenger Banks and Specialty Lenders, and collaborated with management teams to develop detailed financial models, conduct financial & operational due diligence, prepare fairness opinion, create board / management presentations, and develop other marketing materials.

Her transaction experience includes mergers and acquisitions, public takeover defense, follow-on offerings, and carve-outs. Sophia also worked on the initial phase of a $18 billion semiconductor carve-out deal at Goldman Sachs Advisory Group based in Tokyo.

Sophia started her career as a management consultant at Accenture Canada. Here she advised clients in the Financial Services, Government, and Oil & Gas sectors on issues ranging from strategy formulation to implementation.

Between her postgraduate studies, she also worked as a policy advisor to Canada’s Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

Sophia holds a M.B.A. from INSEAD, France (with an exchange from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania), and a Master of Global Affairs from University of Toronto, Canada. Sophia also graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University in Canada as a Loran Scholar.
