Sam is a Director with over a decade of experience primarily across accounting, audit, advisory, controllership, and FP&A with clients ranging from startups to publicly traded multinational companies.
Prior to joining Accordion, Sam most recently spent 4 years across various industry roles. As Controller of a 120 location US retailer, Sam was tasked with shortening the financial close process, as well as ownership of monthly management reporting and variance analysis, accounts payable, treasury including daily operating cashflow forecasting, budgeting, financial statement preparation under US GAAP and the businesses risk control matrix. As Global Assistant Controller for a $750M PE-backed healthcare manufacturer, Sam’s responsibilities included the stand up of the accounting function post carve out, successful completion of first year audit, execution of TSA exits, IFRS financial statement preparation and conversion, and 12-month cash flow forecasting.
Sam began his career at Saffery Champness. There, he managed audit and financial statement preparation engagements for both public and private companies covering IFRS and UK GAAP, as well as other advisory engagements. Specific examples include reviewing the organizational structure of a hospitality client, producing technical guidance and memos for IFRS conversion, and development and review of control procedures for an International Property Manager specifically focused on client funds.
His experience covers global companies with operations throughout Europe, South America, Asia and Africa, as well as industry experience covering retail, healthcare, security services, FMCG, sports and entertainment, leisure and hospitality and manufacturing.
Sam earned a First Class B.A.(hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Plymouth, UK. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
