Richard Mizak

Rich is a Managing Director with nearly three decades of experience in finance, consulting, and industry leadership roles, including: C-suite and interim management, turnaround and restructuring, portfolio management, operations, strategic planning, business analysis, performance improvement, and project management.

Rich has held multiple Interim CFO and CRO, and senior turnaround and restructuring advisory roles across the manufacturing, business services, consumer products and healthcare sectors.  Extensive experience in operational turnarounds, strategic planning, performance improvement, and M&A.

Recent engagement include:

  • Interim CFO of a $200M+ aerospace polymers company where he built a shared services function, implemented OneStream, and integrated three acquisitions.
  • CRO $100M Tier 1 automotive supplier – represented US operations in OEM supplier contract renegotiations.
  • Interim CFO of $1.3B radiology company – evaluated financial systems and personnel, drove annual planning process, and partnered with leadership team to achieve cost synergies.
  • Interim CFO of $150M medical records retrieval business – worked with management team to develop 18-month forecast and operational turnaround plan for lender negotiations and identify $4M of SG&A savings.

Previously, Rich was the CEO of a  transportation company rollup, a Portfolio Manager for a private equity fund, a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal for 10 years.  At A&M he specialized in interim management, performance improvement, turnaround and restructuring, and M&A diligence.

His notable assignments through these years included:

  • Managed the carve out of a $400M mental health housing and care services company with 100+ locations across six US states and establishing it as a new stand-alone for-profit company.
  • Developed comprehensive financial analysis, benchmarking, and cost savings analysis for the carve-out and stand-up of a $160M surgical equipment supplier.

Rich has an M.B.A. from New York University, and B.S.B.A. in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies from Xavier University. He is an INSOL Fellow of cross-border insolvency, Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA), and member of Turnaround Management Association.
