Paz Samarakone is a Vice President with nearly a decade of experience in FP&A, performance reporting, and finance function consulting. His experience spans a wide range of industries and geographies – including Australia, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Representative Accordion engagements include: the development of a formal management reporting model which provides financial and operational visibility into a software business; product profitability analysis for a digital print company; and budget preparation for an international software development and healthcare consulting organization.
Before joining Accordion, Paz was a Vice President in the Global FP&A team at HSBC in London. His primary responsibilities related to the production of all executive level reporting for the Investment Banking division, in addition to the management of the monthly rolling forecast, annual operating plan, and budgeting procedure.
Prior to HSBC, he worked for Lloyds Banking Group, where he was responsible for managing a £15bn financial model linked to the Bank’s conduct provision allowance. While in London, Paz was also an FP&A manager at the Bank of England, where he developed and managed all consolidated level financial models and other information analysis tools.
Paz started his career at KPMG in Australia, where he worked in the Management Consulting division, specializing in CFO decision support related offerings, specifically linked to profitability analysis, FP&A best practice, and board reporting enhancement. At KPMG, he gained experience across a number of industries, including: consumer/retail, manufacturing, hospitality, and financial services.
Paz earned a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance, from Monash University, Australia. He is also a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.
