Nicola is a Managing Director with well over two decades of experience in financial reporting advisory work. She is a subject matter expert in IFRS, US GAAP and International M&A, and has deep expertise in implementing/operationalizing new accounting standards – excelling in translating complex accounting into practical, digestible advice. She has worked across a variety of industries, and all sizes of companies, from small private companies to Fortune 100.
Before joining Accordion, Nicola created and led the GAAP conversions group within EY, helping companies translate between different sets of accounting standards, with a focus on the transactions space (mergers, acquisitions, carve outs), typically under accelerated timelines.
In her broader role as an EY partner, she collaborated with her clients to offer solutions on a wide range of issues – thinking through the technical accounting impacts of decisions at the deal negotiation stage, supporting clients with exit readiness, and assisting with preparation of required filings – through to larger, programmatic projects such as implementing the new leases and revenue recognition standards, and working through the ripple effects on people, process and systems.
Nicola started her career in audit and accountancy – both planning and performing audits, as well as covering interim roles for various industries and assisting controllers with preparing financial statements, consolidations, and statutory filings. She has a strong technical background, having worked in a national office, and has contributed to a number of publications. Nicola has also worked in numerous countries across Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Nicola graduated with honors from Liverpool John Moores University with a B.A. in Accounting and Finance, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. She is also a certified public accountant in California.
