Matt Marcus

Matt Marcus is a Managing Director with more than two decades of experience in diversified consulting and alternative investments. His specific expertise includes the management, development, and execution of strategic financial initiatives.

Representative Accordion engagements include private equity portfolio companies for The Carlyle Group, H.I.G Capital, Madison Dearborn, Altaris Capital Partners, Ridgemont Equity, FFL Partners, Insight Venture Partners, and others.  Matt typically leads Accordion’s larger, more complex projects which have included enterprise wide visibility, sell side readiness, FP&A best practice, and other Board driven initiatives. He has broad industry experience across business services, software, manufacturing, health care services, and distribution.

Matt spent the early part of his career as a Fixed Income Analyst at JP Morgan Investment Management and a Consultant at KPMG. He then spent six years at StarVest Partners, a New York City based venture capital firm, where he was  involved in over 20 enterprise software & business services investments including: NetSuite (N), Connected (acquired by Iron Mountain) and MessageOne (acquired by Dell). Matt continued his principal investing career at several hedge funds, where he managed industrial & business services portfolios in excess of $150M of risk capital and rose to be Partner at Manhasset Capital.

Prior to joining Accordion, Matt was Founder and CEO of TAZ Consulting, a firm focused on providing financial, operational, and outsourced C-level consulting services to private equity and corporate clients.

Matt’s deep analytical capabilities developed through his work in both public and private equity provide a differentiated and complementary consultative approach. He is effective in engaging in C-suite communication, managing large scale cross-functional projects, and driving cross-business collaboration to accomplish objectives.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont and an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
