Johnny Moustis

Johnny Moustis is an Associate General Counsel with nearly 8 years of diverse legal and compliance experience across the private and public sectors. At Accordion, he handles legal and compliance matters for the firm.

Before joining Accordion, Johnny held in-house counsel positions, first with Valid USA as Interim General Counsel, and later on with RSA Security as Commercial Counsel. Both companies are multi-national technology and manufacturing companies serving customers ranging from small businesses to Fortune 100s. In these roles, Johnny was responsible for carrying out the legal and compliance functions, playing a key role in refining customer and vendor contract templates, developing the companies’ compliance programs, and implementing new legal technologies. Johnny also led the companies’ legal externship programs, assisting active law students in developing their legal skills as aspiring attorneys.

Prior to moving into an in house position, Johnny served as Assistant Legal Counsel in the Office of the Illinois Senate President during the 2021 legislative session. As a Senate staffer, he played a pivotal role in researching, analyzing, and drafting legislation affecting business transactions and bourgeoning technologies (like cryptocurrency), in addition to advising state senators during committee hearings and floor debates.

Johnny also served for four years as Vice President of Business Development at CBIZ Private Equity Advisory, where he developed hundreds of relationships with private equity funds and M&A professionals across North America.

Johnny’s legal career began at Liston & Tsantilis and continued at Parrillo Weiss, where he honed his legal skills in civil litigation, contract drafting, and real estate transactions.

Johnny graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law (J.D.), and cum laude and with distinction the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (B.A.).
