Jim Truong is a Director with more than a decade of experience in interim management and corporate restructuring, turnaround services, and operational finance spanning a variety of sectors including financial institutions, technology, and consumer products. Jim has assisted clients in cash flow and liquidity assessment, preparing financial models, and developing and implementing corporate reorganization plans.
Representative Accordion engagements include sell-side readiness preparation, visibility and enhanced reporting initiatives, spanning the energy, manufacturing, and technology sectors.
Prior to joining Accordion Partners, Jim was a director in the Corporate Restructuring and Turnaround group at Alvarez & Marsal. Notably, he served as interim officer at one of the key players in the college textbook industry, helping to successfully navigate the company through a sale of its college bookstore division and restructuring of its debt maturity wall. There, Jim managed the transition period and supported and oversaw several functional departments including treasury, risk management, and logistics. As interim treasurer, he also prepared, presented, and defended a 13-week cash flow projection used for strategic planning and negotiations with key bondholders.
Also, notably, Jim served as a corporate officer of Washington Mutual, Inc. There he helped lead the entity to a successful emergence from Chapter 11 proceedings, which resulted in recoveries in excess of 100% for general unsecured creditors.
Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Jim worked at FTI Consulting in Los Angeles in its litigation practice and at CIBC World Markets (acquired by Oppenheimer) in Menlo Park, CA as an analyst in its technology vertical.
Jim graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Economics.
