Gary Appelbaum is a Managing Director with expertise in full-cycle M&A, from Strategy through Integration. His experience enables him to focus on clients realizing their value drivers in a transaction, deliver flawless execution, and conduct post-deal reviews in various industries, and under various deal structures: Asset, Stock, Carve-Out, Divestiture, Transition Services, Licensing, Distribution, Supply, Alliance, JV and Equity Investments.
Gary’s Accounting and Finance background brings a disciplined, measured, and balanced approach to assessing value creation and synergies…on the growth, harmonization, and rationalization fronts. Since joining Accordion in 2017, He has focused on the execution and delivery of client’s strategic and transformational initiatives, and on integrations, carve-outs, TSAs, and full cycle M&A as specialties. He is known for simplifying complex decisions, and his outstanding relationship building and influential leadership skills.
Prior to Accordion, Gary was Director, Corporate Development/M&A at Johnson & Johnson where he led numerous deal, diligence, integration, and carve-out initiatives. Significant transactions where he held leadership roles include Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, Balmex, OraPharma, Ortho Dermatologics, and businesses in EMEA, Russia, China, and Brazil. He developed and implemented M&A, Integration, and Carve-Out playbooks and trainings for executives and functional leaders.
Before J&J, Gary was at Lancit Media Entertainment, a publicly held company, as SVP, CFO and at Madison Square Garden Corporation, as VP, Controller, where in these leadership roles he professionalized the Accounting and Finance functions, implemented Accounting Operational systems, and initiated a series of profit enhancement programs.
Gary holds an M.B.A. in Finance, and a B.S. in Accounting, both from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
