David is a Managing Director with over four decades of domestic and international legal, business, investment banking, and crisis management experience. David solves problems for companies involved in, or emerging from, restructurings and special situations.
He has been recognized as an elite player in the restructuring space, including leading the deal that M&A Advisor named the 2011 “Large Turnaround of the Year” and “Large Divestiture of the Year.” He was lauded by legal industry guide Chambers as “an esteemed and skillful professional who delivers every single time with a deeply practical and no-nonsense style.”
David’s expertise includes leading complex, high-pressure restructurings, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and planning and implementing distressed acquisitions and strategic exits for divesting stressed or nonessential business units and subsidiaries. He has led hundreds of restructuring and distressed transactional matters for private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies.
As a senior Partner at Kirkland & Ellis, a Managing Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and a Founder and Managing Director at AEG Partners, David leveraged his experience directing companies’ high-stakes restructuring efforts. Also in these roles, he led some of the largest and most complex out-of-court restructurings and in-court reorganizations in the world. His work spans many industries including Consumer Products, Energy, Finance and Asset Management, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Technology, and Transportation.
David graduated with distinction from University of Michigan with a B.A. in Economics and received his Juris Doctor from University of Illinois.
