Role Overview
Accordion is seeking an experienced talent leader, to lead professional development and performance management across the firm. Reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO), the Head of Talent Development will partner with all levels and practice areas to develop thoughtful talent mapping and progressions, with clearly defined skills, capabilities, and competencies required to advance within the firm. The Head of Talent Development should exhibit strong leadership characteristics and the clear ability to create a culture that values quality, service, and a high-energy work style. S/he should have proven success with innovative services and be able to build a differentiated employee development function for Accordion. Our goal is to have a development offering to create competitive advantage in the talent market through transparent career path and a system that sets people up for success.
This position will be based in New York, HQ and is a hybrid role. Candidates will need to be local to the area, with opportunities for remote work 2-3 days per week.
What You'll Do:
- Professional Development
- Serve as a thought leader on the most appropriate and effective approach for onboarding and development of employees, at all levels, to further a high performing, engaged workforce
- Develop a clear framework for the skills, capabilities, and competencies expected at each level within the firm
- Bring core value, ‘Coach and Be Coached’ to life by leveraging the expertise within the firm to create learning opportunities for others
- Serve as a talent advisor to practice and functional leaders on talent mapping, mentoring and coaching, development and progression
- Performance Management
- Enhance performance management process to meet the current needs of the organization
- Develop and manage the firm’s assessment and promotion processes ensuring evolutions in the talent market and top of mind
- Champion for Accordion’s core values, ensuring they are embedded in all processes
- Support and further a culture of ‘Coach and be Coached’
- Partner with Internal staffing/resource management
- Promote and support a systematic, developmental approach to staffing that balances individual, practice, and firm-wide needs
- Partner with firm leaders to ensure staffing practices are consistent with and promote Accordion
- Improve project end feedback process
Ideally, You Have:
Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited university, and at least 15 years of professional experience, including at least five years of management experience.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative, highly organized, efficient, business-minded, and relationship-driven leader who can serve as one of the leaders of the business and foster an open and transparent environment where personal accountability and excellence are valued. A background in professional services is extremely attractive but the relevant experience gained in any other highly acquisitive human capital businesses is also compelling.
Candidates must be exceptionally skilled in developing and managing a people function in a fast-paced, results-oriented company with a strong culture. S/he must have a demonstrated ability to build and/or elevate the function during times of growth and change while influencing at multiple levels.
S/he has a proven track record of successfully managing complex stakeholder relationships in a high-growth environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; skilled at communicating with senior executives and stakeholders to create buy-in in an open, honest, and direct manner. Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to interface across many areas and levels of Accordion. Skilled at building and maintaining team spirit and morale. Ability to manage a team of multiple stakeholders including expert practitioners. Comfort in juggling a broad set of priorities; strong project management skills. Solid organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Salary: $175,000 to $225,000 + benefits + bonus
Actual compensation packages are determined by evaluating a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education, certifications, cost of labor and internal equity.
