Ahmed is a Director with over a decade of experience in advisory, transformation, performance improvement and value creation. He has significant credentials in achieving financial process and performance improvements from the lens of delivering these outcomes to global companies on the advisory front, which is further coupled with half a decade of experience in leadership roles within private equity backed and public listed companies, from Chief Financial Officer through to Head of Finance, Head of Transformation and Financial Planning roles.
Ahmed specializes in adding tremendous value through building, transforming and streamlining the financial architecture of organizations, through a combined lens of practical experience and leading best practice advisory.
With Accordion, Ahmed is partnered with the management of private equity-back companies to do just this; create value through transformation. He can deliver significant compounded improvement in underlying performance by identifying and implementing initiatives such as defining leading operating and financial reporting processes, whilst demonstrating a solid grip of enhancing core financial KPI’s to drive value for management and investors alike.
Before joining Accordion, Ahmed sat on the executive team of a private equity backed Insurtech. He led the company’s financial growth to post a capital raise, navigating its path towards a final exit for core shareholders. He built and led the grounds up creation of a financial planning cycle, new accelerated management and statutory reporting cycles, whilst implementing significant cost reduction initiatives, demonstrating effective working capital management to take the business to operating profitability (EBITDA). Over his tenure, he also helped treble revenues in 3 years, alongside positively controlling all core financial KPI’s for value through an active focus over operating efficiency and scalability.
Beyond this, he has led on financial transformation programs which have covered full-scale ERP/EPM planning, design and implementation within the Insurance sector. He is seasoned in defining best practice accounting, close and consolidation processes/controls, together with designing and implementing the optimum target operating model for the finance function to complement the successful use of new technologies.
Ahmed started his career at Deloitte where he led audit and advisory projects for global companies of varying sizes, across the Insurance and Financial services sectors predominantly, with wider experience into Technology and Consumer/Retail businesses in later years.
This combination of practice and industry experience means he is well-versed in producing, reviewing, auditing and communicating financial statements and performance in a range of companies and sectors, at an Executive and Board level.
Ahmed graduated from the University of Surrey with a BSc in Accounting and Finance. He later qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) whilst at Deloitte, London.
